This project focuses on supporting the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) and three or four local school districts in developing a comprehensive tiered system of school mental health. The framework will include universal prevention through mental health promotion at Tier 1, secondary prevention and brief intervention services at Tier 2, and tertiary intervention and behavioral health treatment at Tier 3. As part of the project, districts will be guided in how American Rescue Plan funds can be used to provide the interventions and supports required as part of their Comprehensive School Mental Health System and how other federal and state resources, as well as partnerships with community and statewide mental health providers, can be used to sustain these systems.
