Elisabeth Davis, Ph.D., currently serves as the assistant state superintendent of student learning for the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE). Prior to coming to ALSDE, Dr. Davis served as the superintendent for Eufaula City Schools for almost three years. She spent the majority of her 22 years in public education as a curriculum leader in Pelham City Schools, Tuscaloosa City Schools, and Shelby County Schools.
She began her career as a middle school English language arts teacher and athletic coach. Dr. Davis moved into an administrative position at Columbiana Middle School for three years prior to beginning her career in district leadership. In addition to her leadership in Alabama, Dr. Davis has served on AdvancED (now Cognia) district accreditation review teams in Alabama and in other states.
She has served as a governing board member for Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast during her time at ALSDE. Dr. Davis is a bold educator who has a passion for disrupting the norm and supporting innovation in the learning environment.
She has two children, Hudson who is 10 and Caroline who is 11. Her husband, Todd, has been in education for 20 years and currently serves as the CTE director in Montgomery County Schools.
