Everett William Barnes, Jr.

Everett William Barnes Jr., Ph.D.,  is the principal investigator at the Region 7 Comprehensive Center. He began his career in education in 1965 as a high school history and civics teacher in rural New Hampshire. Dr. Barnes was a school administrator for several years before becoming the director of statewide testing at the University of New Hampshire’s (UNH) Bureau of Education Research and Testing Services. While at UNH, he also codirected a health education and welfare professional institute to train principals in the use of evaluation for decision-making that involved leaders in the field such as Robert Stake, Egon Guba, and Henry Walbesser.

Dr. Barnes received his doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts under the mentorship of Dwight Allen, Ed.D., dean of the School of Education and Arthur Eve, Ph.D., director of the Donahue Institute for Government Services.

In 1973, Dr. Barnes joined RMC Research Corporation where he is now president. Since 1975, Dr. Barnes has been a director or principal investigator on a variety of federal technical assistance contracts and is currently the principal investigator for the Region 7 Comprehensive Center. Dr. Barnes is recognized at the federal, state, and district levels as a leader in the design, management, and delivery of responsive, high-quality, relevant, and value-added technical assistance.

EDUCATION:  Ed.D. in educational evaluation and administration from University of Massachusetts; M.Ed. in educational administration and leadership, secondary education from University of New Hampshire; B.Ed. in American history and geography from Plymouth State College; Additional graduate work in military history and human geography from Dartmouth College
