| Guillermo Farfan, Ph.D., is a Research Associate at RMC Research Corporation. Previously, he was a Visiting Assistant in Research at the Florida Center for Research in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (FCR-STEM) at Florida State University.
He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, his graduate certificate in Measurement & Statistics from Florida State University, and a master’s degree in Psychology from Walden University. He completed post-doctoral training at the IES Summer Research Training Institute on Cluster-Randomized Trials at Northwestern University. Over the years, Dr. Farfan has been involved in the planning, collection, management, and data analysis of large-scale research projects, including several under government contracts or grants, where he often lent his expertise in the assessment of mathematics classroom instruction. Prior to his time at Florida State, Dr. Farfan worked as a math teacher in Tampa and Orlando, FL. His research interests include the implementation of mathematics standards and its effect on mathematics teachers’ pedagogical knowledge and practice, as well as the effectiveness of teacher participation in mathematics professional development programs. He is a member and has served as a reviewer for both the American Educational Research Association and the Association for Psychological Science.
