Sophia Sullivan Farmer

Sophia Sullivan Farmer is a Region 7 Comprehensive Center (R7CC) team member, specializing in providing implementation support to the R7CC technical assistance team and within capacity building projects for the states of Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama.

She provides support to state and local departments of education to utilize implementation and improvement sciences to ensure that all students have access to equitable evidence-based instruction and interventions in order to thrive academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally. Ms. Farmer has extensive experience in Grades K–12 education as a special educator, district leader, and regional technical assistance provider for school and district teams. Ms. Farmer also is an implementation specialist for the National Implementation Research Network (NIRN).

Prior to coming to NIRN, Ms. Farmer served as the director of the Virginia Tiered Systems of Supports Research and Implementation Center where she led the state’s development and implementation of a data-informed decision-making framework to support high-quality instruction and interventions.

EDUCATION: M.T. in special education from University of Virginia; B.A. in psychology from University of Virginia
