Yosondra Lett
Yosondra Lett is the principal of School of Discovery, a sixth-grade school in Selma Public Schools, Alabama. As an educator of 22 years, she had the opportunity to serve as a high school history teacher, an assistant principal at a middle school, an elementary school principal, and principal of a unique sixth-grade transition school. Twenty years of her career were spent serving in the Tuscaloosa City Schools.
At School of Discovery, Ms. Lett continues to motivate and encourage students to take risks, embrace diversity, dream beyond their current realities, and develop into productive citizens who can compete in a globally evolving society. Ms. Lett’s current work centers around developing and leading the school as an interdisciplinary academy focused on integration of the arts. She is doing current work in Selma, the town and school system where she grew up as a youngster. Consequently, she finds it particularly special to be giving back to this Alabama community while providing the highest quality education and removing barriers to student achievement in the most passionate and compassionate environment.
