Published by REL Southeast, this summary of 20 years of research focused on the effectiveness of adolescent literacy instruction includes key findings from 33 studies that met review criteria. Of those 33 studies, each targeting a different program or practice, 12 demonstrated an impact on improving literacy outcomes for students in Grades 4-12. This document examines those 12 programs and practices and provides additional information about common instructional elements noted in the studies.
